One Room Challenge part 2

Design conceptualized

step 1: Inspiration

So a week has past and I have my plans drafted and design concepts solidified.

If you are new to this blog or missed my blog last Thursday, I am redoing the girls bedroom in the spirit of the One Room Challenge.

This 3 part blog post will show you how my design process works from start to finish.

First, I searched pictures on Pinterest and knew I wanted to do a black and white theme and Mia's new favorite color is green, that's how my color scheme was solidified. See my inspiration pictures below.

step 2: - floor plan

A plan to what and where the furnishings and accessories will be placed is important before actually selecting them; It's like a shopping list and helps me determine the scale of items selected as well.

This room calls for a feature accent wall where it the two twin beds will be anchored. A crisp white drapery on adjacent wall keeps things light. The wall facing the foot of beds will be a chair rail height black chalkboard for learning letters and writing. They have a pottery barn everywhere chair that I am going to make a new cover for out of a fabric Mia found on our last shopping trip for a client. It will be a great reading spot. With this new layout the girls can use their bedroom for more than just sleeping!

step 3: design board

For every project I do for clients I create design boards to best represent the vision I have. It also allows them to see how all the elements coordinate together.

I'm using their pottery barn white bed with trundle drawer for the toddler bed.

Their nightstand will be Vegas green in similar format as above but on more modern legs. We started painting their nightstand Valspar Las Vegas Green today. Lowes has a furniture paint that is streak free and super low maintenance to paint furniture requiring no sanding.

So that covers it for now. Stay tuned and subscribe for the progress pics next Thursday! and for Final reveal May 4th!
